Another Baby Update

First off, I apologize, I have been a horrible blogger! Can I use the fact that the babies came home Jan. 3rd as an excuse? I have been having so much fun with them, a lot of things have gotten pushed to the back burner. So far I've done it by myself and it's really not that hard. They came home eating every 3 hours. The feeding (and pumping) schedule was 10 1 4 7. I can feed them in an hour so that left 2 hours to sleep. I did take naps with them in the afternoons. After a couple of weeks I stretched it to every 4 hours. We are now on a 3 7 11 schedule. I for the most part don't need naps now, which is a good thing because there is always someone up between feedings in the day. They have their nights and days figured out, as on now they sleep between their night feedings. (Knock on wood that doesn't change!)

It works because they are my only priority. I don't have to do anything else, so they always come first. That's the nice thing about being self employed. I have gone into work with them a couple of times to catch up on paperwork, since my husband is not a good book keeper. Other than that we have only left the house for doctors appointments. I have had help with those, thankfully. Being winter I haven't wanted to use the stroller, so either my parents, mother-in-law or other family members have helped me carry them into their appointments.

As for the babies, they finally past their due date (Jan. 28th) so now they are starting to act like newborns. They coo a little bit and their eye site is a little better, they will focus on your face.

I finally got around to hanging some things in their room. It's pretty crowded in there, but it works for now. As soon as they can stand we'll have to figure something else out. I can already imagine them crawling into each others cribs with them that close to each other!

We had a quick doctors appointment last Friday to get a Synagis shot. They weighed them to get the correct dosage. Here is where we came in:

Rylan: 7 pounds 12 ounces

Brileigh: 7 pounds

Brett: 8 pounds 2 ounces

They've come a long way! And the fun is only beginning! I can't believe how blessed I have been. This bottom photo is of my dining room table. It has been transformed into a scrapbooking table. I've never scrapbooked before but always wanted to. I had a good friend Lori come over to help me get started. Due to our talking and baby playing I think we got 1.5 pages done all day! Luckily my Mom got me premade scrapbooks from Hallmark, so that will help a lot. I know if I don't start working them now they will never get done, so wish me luck!

Well it is nearing another feeding time, so this is all I've got to post today. Hopefully I'll be a little better in the future!

Baby Update

The babies are 23 days old today. They have been doing amazing! They are all gaining weight like crazy and we might be introducing bottles very soon! That means they are close to coming home! A typical day for me right now is get up, get ready, go to the hospital. Stay at the hospital all day and go home, go to sleep. Next day start it over. If I need to run an errand, I usually do it after I leave the hospital. I don't think reality has hit that once they come home, that wont be happening.

Rylan weighs 3 pounds 10 ounces today!

Brileigh weighs 3 pounds 11.5 ounces today.

Brett weighs 3 pounds 15 ounces today!

What a Weekend!

The Babies Are Here!

This weekend proved to be the craziest most anxious weekend of my life. Saturday I called the on call doctor with some mild complaints. She told me to come to the hospital so she could look me over, and she told me I might as well bring a bag. Well I had bags packed so I threw them in the car, I had myself convinced she would check me over and tell me to go home and rest though. That didn't happen. She checked me over and started ordering nurses about on what to do with me. I was hooked up to magnesium to stop contractions that I didn't even know I was having and given one of two steroid shots for the babies lungs. From then on I was on complete bed rest. The magnesium made me extremely ill, throwing up regularly, so I got another medication to fix that. On Sunday I got my second steroid shot, and 24 hours after that (Monday at 1:00) they started to lower my magnesium dose. They told me if I started contractions they wouldn't stop them. Tuesday morning when I woke up at 5:30 I was having contractions, but didn't think much of them. When they checked me over at 6 however, I was fully contracting, so to emergency surgery we went! It all happened so fast, I didn't have time to register what was all going on. I was just thankful my husband had time to get to the hospital. So now on to the important information:

Rylan Joel was born at 7:13 Nov 24th. He was 2 pounds 15 ounces and 16" long.

Brett Henry was born at 7:14 on Nov. 24th. He was 3 pounds 7 ounces and 17 1/4" long.

Brileigh Marie was born at 7:15 on Nov. 24th. She was 3 pounds 1 ounces and 16" long.

All three babies are doing extremely well. Breathing on their own and using their lungs to let us know they are here. They have been sucking on pacifiers very well and will start getting a little food tomorrow to see how their tummies handle it. The doctors couldn't be more pleased with how they are doing so mom and dad are relaxing a little more every hour.

I know it was everyone's prayers that helped these babies get to where they are and I thank all of you. I'm getting stronger every minute so it's getting easier to run into the NICU whenever I feel like it, expect some more photos soon!

October Update

Okay who's as big as a house? ME! And I'm only 27 weeks! What am I going to look like in the end? Maybe I should start working on the the nursery, while I can still stand. I made a trip to Walmart and Target yesterday and bought everything in bulk so hopefully I don't have to go back. I had a couple of other stops but I couldn't make them. I started have braxton hicks in Target so I checked out and went home. On a bright side, I have almost all of my Christmas shopping done! I have the women, nieces and nephews done, just the guys to do. Any suggestions? They are always the hardest. I figured I had better get going on this. If I make my goal of 36 weeks, that's January, I'm not going to be able to do any shopping in Dec! And if the babies come sooner, I wont have much time to do anything! My last check up went great, he has put no restrictions on me yet. I keep thinking one of these times he's going to say, alright, time to slow down, but he never does. I guess I'm doing a good job of knowing when to stop myself and rest. There was a time I didn't know if I would make my baby shower this Saturday, but now I'm pretty confident I'll be there. So that's exciting!

Boy Boy Girl!

Well winter has come rather quickly in the Midwest! We had over a 1/2 foot of snow on Saturday! I didn't leave the house all day! Now today it is raining, and with temps in the 30's it wont be long before it gets nasty. The forecast calls for slightly warmer days in the future however. I can't help but notice how screwed up our seasons are getting!

Okay now I know the title to this post is Boy Boy Girl, and I haven't even touched on that yet! Well at my appointment on Friday, the doctor finally confirmed that the last baby was a girl! We are both soo happy. We wanted a mix and God willing the doctors are right, we got it! Things are still going great inside. The outside, well, I am really starting to wear down. It doesn't take much for me to get exhausted. Luckily I have plenty of opportunities in a day to rest and I take full advantage of that! In a couple more months I will be getting NO rest! I'm starting to think my goal of having these babies in January isn't going to happen though. I guess as long as they are ready and healthy when they come is when they come. I just ask for prayers that the rest of the way goes as smoothly as the past!

Chili Weather!

It's hard to believe that it is mid September. The forecast in Nebraska is 60's all week! Not that I'm complaining, it's beautiful outside! Most certainly chili weather, too bad I can't eat it! I'd have to swallow a bottle of tums if I did as heart burn has become the boss of my menu selections lately. My last check up was great though! The babies are growing right on schedule! We also found out that 2 of them are boys. The third one wasn't ready to show off yet. Of course I'm crossing my fingers for a girl, but when I walked out of the clinic I was just excited that they were all doing good! I'd make an appointment every week to check up on them if I could! My appointments are now 3 weeks apart instead of 4, so that's good.

Happy Fall!

Baby news! I had an ultra sound today at 20 weeks and we found out 2 Boys and a ?? Or as the doctor said "and the third one is a boy, no wait girl, um boy, no I think girl, hmm I don't know". So now we get to wait some more... (more importantly they are all growing at a great rate, on schedule and their hearts look awesome!) Of course I would really like a girl, but the most important thing is that they are all healthy. I'm just such a planner / organizer I really wanted to know all three so I could get going! Well hopefully that 3rd one will show off it's plumbing at the next appointment!
